Community Revitalization Efforts
In recent years, Grand Lake has undertaken several initiatives to revitalize its historic downtown and support local businesses. The town was awarded nearly $1 million from the Colorado Main Street: Open for Business grant, aimed at improving the appearance and energy efficiency of buildings in the central business district. Projects included HVAC improvements, exterior painting, roofing, and window replacements for 22 local businesses. These enhancements are expected to increase customer visits, lower energy bills, and create more jobs, contributing to a more year-round economy. Preserving Cultural Heritage
Another notable project is the restoration of the Community House, a 101-year-old historic structure that serves as the heart of Grand Lake. The goal is to reestablish it as a venue for wintertime productions, including movie nights, potluck dinners, community dances, musical entertainment, and educational lectures. These activities aim to serve the local community and attract more visitors during the off-season, thereby supporting local businesses and strengthening the local economy.
